This beautiful dreadnought features a solid Sitka spruce top, East Indian Rosewood back and sides, a high-performance neck taper, and stunning mother-of-pearl inlays. The result is a fine playing guitar firmly rooted in the classic tones of Sitka and Rosewood!
The Sitka spruce top has been treated with Martin's Vintage Tone System. The VTS is a heat treatment process that changes the structure of the cells and helps dry the resins out much quicker than time can by itself. This focused method of semmingly aging the wood, allows Martin’s craftsmen and craftswomen to recreate not only the pleasing visual aesthetics of a vintage guitar but also reproduce the special tones previously reserved for vintage instruments.
Like all Martin's this D-28 John Lennon is has a big bold tone with a vibrant high end, crisp midrange and a deep, resonant low end. The perfect guitar for strumming and singing along with since it really fills the room. Finger pickers might find the tone a little too loose for their taste but it couldn't be more spot on for the singer/strummer looking for a HUGE sounding guitar that really needs no accompaniment.
The mahogany neck is carved to a low oval profile and sports Martin's high-performance neck taper making this a very easy and comfortable to play guitar. You can play it for hours without any hand fatigue. Other acoustic manufacturers have been making insanely playable guitars for quite some time. Martin is certainly capable of doing the same and have really taken a step in that direction over the last few years.
Finally, top it all off with all the cool adornments from the inlaid peace sign on the back, John Lennon's famous self-portrait on the headstock and the John Lennon themed inlays on the neck and you have something fit for the super fan, collector, or true guitar aficionado.
