This Used Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt 55 Telecaster Relic Dale Wilson in Taos Turquoise with ABBY Handwound Pickups is in on consignment and it is in great shape. It is clean, cosmetically aside from the intentional relic-ing done during the build process. The neck is straight, the frets are still crowned, and the truss rod is functioning properly. Included with the guitar is the original hardshell case and certificate of authenticity.
This Masterbuilt Tele, with a certificate date in 2013, is truly is a Masterpiece! A beautiful finish in Taos Turquoise sits atop a white undercoat with hints of the Swamp Ash body underneath peeking through. Like looking into a tranquil, tropical sea, the vibe of this guitar is exactly what many of us need at this point in 2020! Plus, this shop favorite weighs in at a mere 6 lbs 4 oz! It's an ultra-feather weight so if you still need convincing, go ahead, read-on but just know someone else probably has it in their cart ready! :)
Masterbuilder Dale Wilson produces Relic'ed Guitars that John Myatt would be proud of. That's the dude who tricked Sotheby's and Christie's with his own versions of priceless pieces of art. Dale's Guitars are hard to tell from actual Vintage Instruments. His neck tinting is spot on and his fretboard radius and fretwork are far superior to what we have seen on vintage guitars resulting in the best-looking, best-playing guitars.
The neck is made from a single piece of Maple and carved to a 54 Tele U Shaped profile. The fingerboard is carved to a compound radius which runs from 7.25" to 9.5" a subtle shift but one that plays incredibly well with the Vintage Fretwire. Classic Fender Nut Width of 1.650" teamed with 25.5" scale length keeps the neck feeling slim and the strings feeling snappy!
The pickups are a Handwound Twisted Tele in the neck position and a Handwound Nocaster in the bridge position both by Master Pickup Winding Legend, Abigail Ybarra. For all the details on the Twisted Tele Pickups, click HERE! The Cliff Notes Version: the Twisted Neck sounds like a Strat Neck Pickup but in a Tele. Win! The Nocaster Bridge pickup is a thing of beauty but when they are wound by hand, they are truly sublime. Incredible controls can be exercised with the volume and tone. These pickups are super touch-sensitive, expressive, and dynamic. They are tied to a master volume, master tone, and a 4-way switch.
The 4 Way Switch is a secret weapon for many Tele-slinger's including myself! I use one in all my guitar with 2 single-coil pickups. This switch gives you the 3 standard settings and an extra one that pus the pickups in Series. This is where one pickup puts its output into the 2nd pickup giving the signal a greater distance to travel and really beefing it up. I liken it to have a high output P-90 in the neck position of your Tele all of a sudden. Not useful for every situation however it makes a Twang Thang turn into Block of Rock at the flick of a switch.
Do I love this guitar? Yes. Do I want this guitar? Yes. Do I want to sell this guitar and never see it again? No. Can I afford it? No. So... here we are! Someone, please... GET THIS THING OUT OF HERE BEFORE I DO SOMETHING CRAZY!
