Description
With new leadership come new ideas, and in the guitar industry, that means new guitars! And in this case, Gibson is taking a huge leap into a far more affordable price point. The G-45 Studio has a map of $999, a number not seen on a Gibby Acoustic for decades!
So of course they have done a few things to keep the costs down. However, skimping on craftsmanship was not one of them. Still made in the Bozeman Montana Factory, the G-45 Studio features a Solid Sitka Spruce top and Walnut back and sides. With Walnut being a domestic wood rather than mahogany and rosewood, the materials used are less expensive from the get go. The fingerboard is also Walnut while the neck is made from Utile or Sipo (a VERY mahogany like wood, growing in popularity).
The neck has classic Gibson feel. With it's Advice Response Neck Profile, 1.725" Nut Width, and 24.75" Scale you will feel at home from strum one. A Tusq Nut along with a traditional Belly Up Bridge made of Walnut round out the important details.
Gibson is back in 2019 with new leadership and the quality if already heading in the right direction! The first handful of guitars we have seen have had many of the issues addressed. Better cut nuts, even smoother frets, improved finish work, the improvements are quite obvious! We are stocking USA, Custom Shop, and Montana Made Acoustic Guitars again so make sure to stop by the shop when you get the chance to see how the NEW Gibson's stack up!
