Description
The Martin OM-42 takes both fashion and function very seriously. This small-bodied acoustic guitar features a Sitka Spruce Top, Indian Rosewood Back and Sides, a mahogany neck, and an Ebony Bridge. Add the abalone inlay and multi-stripe rosette and you have a guitar that sounds as gorgeous as it looks.
The combination of Sitka Spruce and Indian Rosewood has long been associated with Premium Acoustic Guitars. In this case, that certainly rings true. This guitar sounds harmonically rich and complex, with a warm low end and crisp, bell-like highs.
Fingerpicking results in a warm, sweet fundamental while pleasing harmonics present inspiring subtleties that react impeccably to the touch. With a flat pick, it's easy to see why many playing alongside a Banjo loved these guitars. It reacts quickly, getting the sound out faster than a Dread or a Jumbo and sounding less congested as a result.
A neck made of mahogany is carved to the Modified Low Oval profile. It features the high-performance taper (stays a little more uniform as you climb frets) and a gloss Nitro Cellulose Finish. Other noteworthy specs include the Style 45 Snowflake Inlays, 25.4" Scale Length for a taught feel, 1.75" Nut Width, and a 16" Fingerboard Radius.
